Winter Adventure Talk Series 2023

Adventurer Cory Jones will be giving a Winter Adventure Talk Series in February across Scotland to present slides from his epic wilderness paddling adventures in Canada in 2022. Each event lasting about 1 1/2 hours is being hosted by a local kayak club.

At the event Cory will show two presentations the first covering his’ Unpeeled’ 1000 mile canoe journey in the Yukon wilderness with Dave Crosbie. The pair (both in their 50’s) crossed both the arctic circle and the continental divide on this epic 6 week trip paddling through one of worlds most remote regions. The trip included two huge challenges, a portage of the enormous Aberdeen Canyon through mosquito infested woodland and marsh and the second a 100 mile upstream canoe haul of the Rat River. Listen to stories of being followed by wolves, being lost in the Richardson mountains and being eaten alive by giant mosquitoes.

After a short break Cory will continue by presenting the second adventure of the summer, a solo sea kayak journey off Vancouver Islands north east coast through the Johnstone Strait and infamous Inside Passage. He will describe close encounters with black bears, watching breaching humpback whales and too close to call passing of killer whales whilst crossing the Blackfish Sound.
