Where to See Dolphins in Scotland: Your Complete Guide to Chanonry Point If you’re hoping to see dolphins in Scotland, Chanonry Point is one of the very best places in the UK to do it from land. Sitting on the Black Isle, this narrow spit of land funnels tidal currents through the Moray Firth, bringing dolphins incredibly close to shore as they hunt salmon. You can often see them just metres away, which is what makes this spot so special. Dolphins are present here year round, but your best chance is on a rising tide, about an hour after low tide, when fish are pushed into the channel and the dolphins follow. Spring and summer tend to offer more consistent sightings, especially when salmon are running into the nearby rivers. There are no guarantees with wildlife, but with a bit of timing and patience, this is one of those places where Scotland really delivers.
