Spring season begins for kayaking on Skye
Highland Experiences are ready to quite literally ‘launch’ their new kayak centre based at Hotel Eilean Iarmain on Skye. Based in the south of Skye in Sleat the centre will provide beginners kayaking experiences around the historic Isle Ornsay and the Ornsay Lighthouse; Ornsay translates from Gaelic to ‘Ebb’ or ‘Tidal’ Island, and is home to what was once one of the busiest harbours on the west coast of the Highlands.
The centre is ideally situated whether you are driving onto Skye over the Skye Bridge or taking the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale. No experience is necessary to paddle with us as our friendly team will take great care of you on your trip; our sit on top kayaks are ideal for beginners and the gorgeous waters surrounding the island are enough to calm even the most nervous of potential paddlers. We like to take a slow and steady approach on our trips to allow us time to take in the scenery surrounding the hotel, get to know our guests and have a chance of spotting some of the elusive local wildlife such as otters and seals.
Do you want a beginners adventure on Skye? Our two hour kayaking trips are the perfect length to enjoy being out on the water without having to commit to a full day of paddling. Operating from the shores of Hotel Eilean Iarmain we are also in the prime location to enjoy the delights of the hotel restaurant and bar; join us for a paddle before heading straight to the hotel for a tea/coffee on us.
Our sit on top kayak fleet is ready to take you on a wonderful adventure around the bay, to hunt for wildlife and brush off the dust of your journey to Skye. Come and unwind with us kayaking on the beautiful Misty Isle!
