Cory Jones becomes a British Canoeing Endorsed Guide
Cory Jones, Gairloch Kayak Centre founder, is now an official Canoe and Kayak Guide endorsed by British Canoeing. He is now one of only seven ‘endorsed guides’ across Scotland which is an award beyond what you would expect from a canoe or kayak leader. Endorsed Guides are recognised by British Canoeing and display the additional qualities and skills needed when fulfilling a guiding role and supporting paddlers on their paddlesport journeys and adventures. This includes topics such as trip planning/organisation, leadership styles, customer care, camp craft, minimising impact on communities/environment and adding value to the customer experience.
The recognition also shows the Guide meets minimum standards of deployment built into the endorsement including first aid skills and a commitment to continual professional development.
The Guide Endorsement is for British Canoeing Leaders who are involved in guiding activity, particularly those working within Adventure Tourism and Commercial Markets. This endorsement is aimed at supporting and recognising the additional skills required when fulfilling a guiding role. The cadre of Guides are a supportive network of leaders, sharing best practice and like-minded ideas, in order to aid their learning and support paddlers on their journeys.
Cory is proud to be an endorsed canoe and kayak guide which is also endorsed by Scottish Canoe Association.
Scottish Canoe Association Vision, Mission and Values:
Vision
Everyone can paddle; We believe that paddlesport is something that everyone should be able to enjoy regardless of background or circumstances. We want to make the sport more accessible and will work in partnership with organisations to seek out how to remove real and perceived barriers that prevent people taking up and flourishing in our sport.
Mission
Working together to support the Scottish paddlesport community; The Scottish Paddlesport community is a strong and welcoming community of people and organisations and we will achieve more when we work together. We will continue to work with and support clubs, Delivery Partners and other organisations in their work to get people on the water.
Values
Inclusion, Leadership, Collaboration; We want paddlesport to be inclusive and for everyone to feel it is something that they can engage with on a lifelong basis. We aim to provide leadership to our sector particularly about best practices and how to keep people safe. We work collaboratively with all organisations that share our vision for the growth of our sport.
