‘Highland Time’ Have you heard of it?

Highland Time

New tourism campaign ‘Highland Time” encourages visitors to stay for longer in the North Highlands. The North Highland Initiative (NHI) has unveiled a new tourism campaign for 2020. “Highland Time” aims to encourage visitors to spend more time doing slow tourism and exploring the region of Wester Ross.

Gairloch Canoe and Kayak Centre is a fan of slow tourism and the new ‘Highland Time’ initiative fits with the businesses current approach to running tourism experiences. The Highland Time campaign has been designed to showcase attractions and experiences on the main North Coast 500 route.

Gairloch Canoe and Kayak Centre can take visitors on experiences for a half or full day kayaking, canoeing or on SUP boards, along with our guided Munro walks. By joining the Kayak Centre you can step away from your car and spend time learning about and seeing the wildlife in the area and finding out about the history and culture of the Highlands.

Cory Jones, owner of Gairloch Canoe and Kayak Centre said “Slow tourism encourages travel and tourism experiences at a reduced pace. Visitors can enjoy the stunning environments and coastal scenery better and really have a feel for the place they are visiting.”

Key messaging surrounding the campaign includes leaving no trace of litter, spending extra time in the region, travelling conscientiously, and stepping away from the car to look for alternate ways to travel. Visitors are also encouraged to immerse themselves in local communities, experiencing the culture, traditional music, arts and food and drink of each county.

North Highland Initiative have created a new video to promote “Highland Time’, take a look at their webpage.
