Filming for Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters took place back in 2019. It is great to know that VisitScotland has extended this initiative into 2021 due to the Covid pandemic.
2020 Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters

Most people already know that next year is another of Visit Scotland’s successful themed years – 2020 is the Year of Coasts and Waters (YCW2020). Gairloch Canoe and Kayak Centre has just spent a couple of half days filming with a unit from the West Coast Marine Tourism Collaboration as part of their celebration events for 2020. Filming for Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters is being done by Stefan Morrocco of Morrocco Media.

In 2020, Scotland celebrates its Coasts and Waters with a year-long programme of events and activities which will shine a spotlight on these vital elements of our landscape. From our beautiful natural features including coasts, lochs and rivers to our industrial heritage such as our canals, mills and the creation of our national drink – whisky, Scotland’s Coasts and Waters have shaped our culture, our stories and our way of life.

Eighteen Destination Management Organisations (DMO’s) have teamed up for an ambitious marketing campaign aimed at encouraging people from across Scotland and the UK to make 2020 the year they experience the west coast and get on the water.

So how have Gairloch Canoe and Kayak Centre been involved in filming for Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters? We spent an evening working with the filming and photo crew doing a shoot on Loch Maree and a morning sea kayaking at Shieldaig Lodge- the filming caught the best of Scottish weather with sun, squalls, and hail showers all rolled into one!
